Privacy Policy
How MyDateLog collects, uses, shares, retains, and deletes personal data.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how MyDateLog collects, uses, stores, shares, and deletes personal data when you use MyDateLog, our mobile applications, our API, and the web pages linked from the app. It applies to free users, subscribed users, and anyone who contacts support.
MyDateLog is a personal dating journal and insight tool. Because the service can involve notes about relationships, photos, and AI-generated analysis, some of the information you provide may be sensitive. Please do not upload anything you would not want processed for these product features.
2. Data We Collect
Account and profile data
- Your name, email address, and account identifiers created through Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in.
- Your nickname and account status fields, including whether premium access is active.
- Your birth date, birth time, birth place, and zodiac-related profile fields if you choose to provide them.
Dating log data
- Date entries you create, such as title, date, location, city, platform, age, notes, rating, green flags, red flags, and whether you would see the person again.
- Optional social handles and birth details, including birth place and related place metadata, that you attach to a date entry.
- Technical metadata associated with a date entry, such as the app platform, app version, build number, and IP address in effect when the entry is created.
- Derived insights and metadata generated from your entries, including AI summaries, confidence indicators, anchors, prompt payloads, and zodiac-based insight fields.
Photos and uploaded content
- Date photos you upload, including file metadata such as path, MIME type, original filename, size, and sort order.
Support data
- Support messages you send to us through the app.
- Technical metadata associated with support requests, such as the app platform, app version, build number, and IP address in effect when the message is sent.
Subscription and transaction data
- Subscription provider, store, product identifier, entitlement identifier, purchase state, renewal state, expiration date, transaction identifiers, and related webhook metadata.
- Usage counters used to enforce plan limits, including the number of free logs and logs created during a premium billing cycle.
Usage, diagnostics, and device context
- App version, build number, locale, language, device region, launch market, and rollout cohort.
- If you grant location permission, we may access your device location when the app opens to improve place suggestions and to derive a coarse location record such as country, region, or city. We do not store precise latitude and longitude as part of this feature.
- If you use Google Maps Platform or Google Places-powered autocomplete features, such as date location search or birth place search, Google may process your search text, session token, and related request metadata to return suggestions.
- Analytics events, screen views, runtime context, and crash diagnostics collected through Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics.
- If you enable the optional in-app PIN lock, we use that feature to add a local layer of access protection on your device.
3. How We Use Data
- To create and secure your account, authenticate sign-in, and keep sessions active.
- To store, display, update, and delete your dating logs, photos, and support messages.
- To provide premium features, determine whether a subscription is active, restore entitlements, and enforce feature limits.
- To generate AI-based insights and zodiac-based interpretations from the information you submit.
- To detect abuse, spam, fraud, duplicate submissions, and misuse of support or core product features.
- To understand product usage, troubleshoot failures, investigate account or sync issues, and improve stability, performance, and the user experience.
- To comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and enforce our Terms of Use.
4. How We Share Data
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only as needed to operate the service.
- With Apple and Google for authentication and in-app subscription processing.
- With RevenueCat to validate subscriptions, process entitlement status, and receive subscription webhook events.
- With Google Maps Platform and Google Places to provide place autocomplete and suggestion features, including birth place search.
- With OpenAI to generate AI insights from the profile and dating-log information required to produce those outputs.
- With Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics for analytics, diagnostics, and crash reporting.
- With hosting, storage, infrastructure, and security providers that process data on our behalf to run the service.
- With law enforcement, regulators, courts, or professional advisers when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and the integrity of the service.
- As part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal safeguards.
5. AI Processing Notice
When you request or receive an AI insight, we may send structured information derived from your profile and dating log to OpenAI through the OpenAI API. This may include items such as age, city, platform, notes, flags, rating, optional social handles, optional birth details, locale context, and derived relationship signals. We use this processing only to generate the requested feature output, measure model usage, and improve reliability and cost controls.
AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for important personal decisions. You should not treat AI insights as professional advice, factual verification, or a guarantee of relationship outcomes.
6. Legal Bases
Depending on where you are located, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service, and compliance with legal obligations.
7. Security
You may enable an optional in-app PIN lock to add a local layer of access protection on your device. This feature is intended to help reduce unauthorized access on that device, but no security measure is guaranteed to be perfect.
8. Retention and Deletion
- We retain account and content data for as long as your account remains active and as long as needed to provide the service.
- When you delete content or your account, deletion may take some time to complete across our systems and backups.
- Technical metadata attached to support messages or date entries may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, diagnostics, support handling, and service reliability.
- Operational logs, AI call logs, webhook records, diagnostics, and backups may persist for a limited period where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, billing reconciliation, or disaster recovery.
- Subscription records may be retained after account closure to document past purchases, resolve disputes, and comply with accounting and tax obligations.
9. Your Rights and Choices
- You can update profile information from within the app where those controls are available.
- You can delete your account from within the app. Deleting your account removes access and starts our deletion workflow for associated content.
- You can manage or cancel mobile subscriptions through your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings.
- You can deny or revoke location permission in your device settings. If you do, manual place entry still works, but location suggestions may be less relevant.
- You can type a birth place manually if autocomplete is unavailable or if you prefer not to use place suggestions.
- You can request access, correction, deletion, or object to certain processing by contacting contact@mydatelog.app. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
- You can limit some analytics or diagnostic collection through device-level settings where your platform offers those controls, but some processing is necessary for the service to function securely.
10. International Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live. Where required, we will use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
11. Children
MyDateLog is not directed to children. The service is intended only for adults who are at least 18 years old. Do not use the service or submit personal information if you are under 18.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date above. Material changes may also be communicated in-app or by other appropriate means.
13. Contact
Questions, privacy requests, and deletion requests can be sent to contact@mydatelog.app.
